White Oiled Oak

MAINTENANCE GUIDE

Before using your new white oiled oak item, please read this guide to ensure a well-protected durable surface.

BEFORE USING THE PRODUCT /

Before first time use we recommend oiling the oak with Guardian White-pigmented Oil. Please follow the instructions on the bottle. It is important to oil all oak surfaces and sides of the product the first time - to saturate the wood and avoid  urving. The wood has been oiled during production, but this is not enough to saturate the surface as needed.

DAILY MAINTENANCE /

Use a lint free cloth and wipe immediately after spills. For deep cleaning we recommend using Guardian Wood Cleaner. Never use strong soap or cleaning products as this will dissolve and remove the protective oil from the surface.

ONGOING MAINTENANCE /

The effect of oiling is decreasing continuously, and therefore we recommend oiling the wood several times a year -  approximately 3-4 times. Within the first six month after your purchase, we recommend treating with oil once a month.

CORRECT MAINTENANCE IS IMPORTANT /

Solid wood is a living material. Variations in humidity, temperature differences and dry heat from wood stoves can cause the wood to become rough and easily curved. However, with the right care and maintenance, the above changes will be minimized. During the warmer months of summer, the tree is expanding, 3and the wood can easily be curved. During winter, the tree pulls together, and the wood which curved in summer will recede. There may be ’windscreens’ (small cracks between the veins) which are of no importance.
